Elephant Sanctuary Half Day Afternoon Tour Chiang Mai
- Duration: 4 Hours (approx.)
- Location: Mai Win, Chiang Mai
- Product code: HLFDT
Join us for an unforgettable afternoon at Elephant Freedom Project, one of the most highly rated elephant sanctuaries in Chiang Mai. This immersive experience allows you to spend meaningful time with rescued elephants in a natural and ethical environment.
Your journey begins with a scenic one-hour drive from Chiang Mai into the beautiful mountains of northern Thailand. Upon arrival at the sanctuary, you will enjoy a relaxing vegetarian lunch overlooking the elephants while your guide introduces you to the herd and shares the stories of the elephants we have rescued.
After lunch, you will participate in our Elephant Vitamin Cooking Class, where you will prepare nutritious supplements and vitamin balls for the elephants. This hands-on activity helps you understand how we care for the health and wellbeing of these magnificent animals.
Next, enjoy one of the most memorable parts of the tour — feeding the elephants by hand and interacting with them up close.
You will then join our guides and elephants on a peaceful Elephant River Walk, where you will observe the elephants roaming, exploring, and playing in their natural surroundings. During the river experience, you will have the opportunity to swim and bathe with the elephants, an incredible moment many of our guests describe as the highlight of their visit to Thailand.
The adventure continues with a short hike to a beautiful jungle waterfall, where you can relax, swim, and enjoy the peaceful natural setting before returning to the sanctuary. Throughout the experience, your mahout guide will share his deep knowledge of elephants and explain why protecting and caring for these incredible animals is so important.
Our elephants are never forced to perform or participate in activities. We allow them to interact naturally and move at their own pace so that every experience is respectful and authentic.
This tour offers a rare opportunity to connect with elephants in a meaningful and ethical way while enjoying the natural beauty of Chiang Mai’s countryside.
